Thanks to the JC for featuring this article about a great project, Laura Bloomberg, took on in partnership with Camp Simcha.

A Bushey teacher has joined forces with Camp Simcha to collect new toys for children in hospitals around the UK. Laura Bloomberg established Toys for Smiles to get toys into hospitals, both as gifts for children on the wards and to restock playrooms with new and Covid-safe items.

She delivered the first batch of toys to the Starfish Ward at Watford Hospital.

“As a child, i spent the best part of three years in Great Ormond Street Hospital with a rare health condition. So the idea of supporting children in hospital now really resonated with me, she said. “It was really great to team up with Camp Simcha and build on their existing hospital outreach work.”
To date, more than £3000 worth of toys have been donated.

During lockdown, Ms Bloomberg was also part of the You Donate We Deliver, a team making meals for NHS staff, and a local baking drive to get cakes and other treats to keyworkers.
