This years Toy Drive collected a record number of gifts for distribution to seriously ill children in hospital.
On Sunday nearly 100 volunteers joined a bumper packing event at Yavneh College Sports Hall. Sorting through over 9,000 toys collected at 70 plus nurseries, schools, cheders, synagogues and community and youth groups.
It’s one of our favourite moments of the Camp Simcha year, sending the new toys and gifts to seriously ill children of all denominations spending the holiday season in hospital or hospices.
Over the next few weeks, the toys will be delivered to children of all denominations in over 130 hospital wards and hospices and through community nursing teams, including Barnet, Watford General, Royal Free, Whittington,
UCLH and Great Ormond Street hospitals.
Camp Simcha UK is the only Jewish charity to deliver toys to all children in hospitals on this scale.
With the help of GIFT, a few hundred toys will also go to families who would otherwise be unable to give their children gifts this Chanukah.
A huge thank you to all the schools, chedarim, nurseries and other organisations who collected toys and to all the volunteers who collected, sorted and distributed them. Thank you also to The David Goodman Charitable Trust for their kind sponsorship of Toy Drive.
