A few months ago, I got to experience our B’nei Mitzvah Programme from a completely different perspective, not just as part of the Camp Simcha team, but as a parent.
And I have to admit, seeing my daughter take part was pretty special.
As parents, we spend years trying to teach our children about kindness, responsibility, and helping others. Usually somewhere between reminding them to tidy their room and asking them for the fifth time to empty the dishwasher 🙂
This programme brought those lessons to life in a way I never could.
From packing toys for children in hospital at our Toy Drive packathon, to volunteering activities, and of course the final sponsored walk, she saw first hand that even small actions can make a big difference.
What stood out most was the sense of purpose it gave her during such an important milestone year. It wasn’t just about celebrating her Bat Mitzvah, it was about understanding what it means to give back and be part of something bigger than yourself.
At Camp Simcha, we see time and again how powerful it is when young people are given the opportunity to make a difference. Our B’nei Mitzvah Programme combines volunteering, fundraising, and shared experiences, all while supporting families facing serious childhood illness.
If your child is approaching their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, I’d genuinely encourage you to consider joining our next cohort. It’s a wonderful way to mark this milestone with meaning, impact, and perhaps a few blisters from the sponsored walk along the way!
