Michaela and Saul

Five-year-old Saul from Manchester is currently receiving treatment for leukaemia and is being supported by Camp Simcha. The intensive treatment, administered via a Hickman line, has left him with sensory sensitivities so Saul finds his dressing gown much more comfortable than regular clothes.

Saul is in active treatment and he went straight from his hospital bed to our Family Residential Retreat.

This respite came at a crucial time for the family. Over the last eight months they have only spent two weeks at home, with the rest consumed by exhausting hospital stays. It has been overwhelming for everyone, including his sister Dalia who often receives less attention as her parents naturally have to prioritise Saul’s needs. At retreat, Dalia had the chance to meet children her own age and simply have fun.

With six days of Camp Simcha’s Keshet Summer Day Scheme outings over the summer, the family have had crucial time together, with extra support from volunteers, to create special memories during such a challenging time.

It is thanks to your incredible support that we can make this happen for families like Saul’s.

Thank you from all of us.
