Summer Day Scheme

Our Asher and Betty Loftus z’l, ‘Keshet’ – summer day scheme, runs for nine days over a period of three weeks in the summer.

Many of the families we support are unable to send their children to camps over the summer due to complex medical conditions. Camp Simcha’s summer day scheme exists to make the holiday time easier for these families and ensure the children have a fun and exciting summer.

Each day has a different theme and core activity, from arts and crafts to funfairs and days at a theme park or zoo.

Our young volunteers on Keshet join staff to ensure that all the children are looked after and are having a great time. We also have a nurse present on each day of the scheme who looks after the children’s medical needs.

‘Yes, Keshet provides respite for the parents but even more importantly … for the children who are unwell it gives them some days to enjoy the normal summer activities their peers get to take part in. Sometimes the importance of this is forgotten.’
