Nicola and Nasa on our Paws for Fun project

In my job as a fundraising consultant, I write daily about the impact of the amazing charities that I have the privilege to work with. Personally, I choose only to work with causes that I can be passionate about. Last weekend, and certainly not for the first time, I was reminded first hand of the huge difference Camp Simcha UK has on the lives of families affected by a serious medical condition.

Meet my beautiful NASA, he’s an assessed therapy dog who volunteers for Camp Simcha’s Paws for Fun project. As he can’t drive, I took him to meet the sibling in a family supported by the charity. With 3 dogs, I am a huge advocate of the therapeutic value of dogs – but it was truly wonderful to see the emotional boost that the simple act of playing and interacting with a dog gave this young boy. The time he spent with NASA gave him an escape from the chaos and challenges of his daily life and the opportunity to feel normal.
