Special Retreat and the Wohl Family Regular Retreat
Retreat is a unique programme to Camp Simcha which enables seriously ill children, along with their siblings and parents, to experience three days of fun and relaxation in beautiful hotel surroundings.
A range of specially programmed activities are organised for both the children and the parents, from helicopter riders, private zoos and circus shows to ‘dinner for two’ for parents only.
All meals are strictly kosher and there is a doctor on site to ensure all medical needs are taken care of.
As well as Camp Simcha staff, each child has a young volunteer (usually aged 18-25 years) taking care of them and ensuring that they have an unforgettable time while parents relax.
Retreat provides Camp Simcha parents with a rare opportunity to spend quality time with each other and their children, whilst meeting and speaking to other parents in similar situations to themselves.
‘Retreat gave Josh the energy and positive outlook to attend school for a full day today. This is the first time this has happened all year’
‘You gave us something so precious, and that is family time. This, in turn, brings an even rarer commodity for families likes us … a sense of normality’
‘Our son’s procedures and hospital admissions are all over the country so we are frequently away. The other children hate that they miss out on time with us. Retreat is great time for us to be together as a family”
